Llegó Tala

Barcelona, 28th April 1970
Dear Alejandrina,

Here we are, very happy with the kids. I found them very well and happy in every sense, doing more or less the same things they were doing in Buenos Aires, Oscar working and Patricia home-making. The day I arrived she had stopped working so we could go sightseeing to lovely places here in Barcelona.

Pamela and I went for a few days to a very interesting and typical seaside town. Although we stayed a very short time it will be unforgettable because we had a chance to talk to very friendly local people who welcomed us very warmly. We enjoyed it no end.

In a few days both of us will be going to Milan and to travel through Italy. The kids intend to do the same very soon, I think around the 11th.

So far the trip has been very nice and I hope it will continue that way.
I hope you and Teresa are well. Have you seen Gustavo? If you go down town go and see him, I would like to know whether he's been to the shop even for a short visit.

Please give my fond regards to the little granny, we thought a lot about her in Lisboa, tell her it is a very beautiful city, very tidy and well looked after, llena de flores, the whole city is like a park. Give my best to the rest of the family, my love and a big hug to you and Teresa and kisses from Pamela,

Querida Alejandrina:

Aquí estamos muy bien con los chicos, los encontré muy contentos y muy bien en todos los órdenes, haciendo más o menos la misma vida que en Buenos Aires, Oscar trabajando y Patricia con los quehaceres de la casa. El día que llegué Patricia había dejado de trabajar así que hemos podido pasear por todos lados y conocer lugares muy lindos aquí en Barcelona.

Con Pamela pasamos unos días en un pueblo costero muy interesante y típico, estuvimos poco tiempo pero resultará inolvidable porque se trata de un lugar realmente maravilloso como paisaje y también porque tuvimos oportunidad de hablar con la gente del lugar, pescadores, personas muy tratables y simpáticas que nos hicieron sentir muy bien. Disfrutamos muchísimo.

Ahora en unos días nosotras, Pamela y yo, nos vamos a Milán y seguimos viaje por Italia. Los chicos piensan también muy pronto, creo que el 11 más o menos, viajar a Milán.

Bueno, lo que va hasta ahora del viaje, todo ha resultado muy lindo y espero que continúe así. Espero que Ud. y Teresa estén bien, lo han visto a Gustavo? Si anda por el centro péguese una vueltita para verlo. Me gustaría saber que ha andado por el negocio aunque sea un ratito.

Dará muchos cariños a la abuelita, nos acordamos muchisimo cuando estuvimos en Lisboa, de ella, dígale que es una ciudad preciosa, muy prolija y cuidada, llena de flores, parece toda un gran parque. Realmente una belleza.
Dele mis recuerdos al resto de la familia, muchos cariños a Teresa y Ud. reciba un fuerte abrazo. Muchos besos de Pamela.

Dear Alejandrina,

I take the oportunity to write as my mum is writing to you. We are very glad that mum and Pamela are here. I stopped work and have been going out with them every day, showing Barcelona off as if it were my city. We haven’t stopped since they arrived. They also went to Cadaqués, in the Costa Brava, on their own for three days and came back ecstatic with the place. They are going to Italy to see friends in Milán and Rome and later we’ll go to Milán to see if it goes as well as it has gone here for us.

I hope everyone is well over there, we know Teresa is well, my mum says she saw her prettier and happier than ever.

Querida Alejandrina:

Aprovecho que mamá le escribe para hacerlo yo. Aquí estamos, muy contentos con mamá y Pamela. Dejé de trabajar y estuve paseando todos los dias con ellas, mostrándoles Barcelona como si fuera mi ciudad. No hemos parado desde que llegaron. Además ellas solas se fueron tres días a Cadaqués, en la Costa Brava, que es un lugar hermoso y vinieron encantadas. Ahora, dentro de unos días, se van a Italia a visitar a unas amigas que mamá tiene en Milán y en Roma. Luego iremos nosotros para Milán a ver si allá nos va tan bien como aquí.

Espero que todos estén bien por allá. Sabemos por mamá que Teresa está muy bien y dice que la vió más linda y alegre que nunca. Un abrazo y un beso a todos,
