Parece que García viene...

Barcelona, 8th March 1970

Dear Alejandrina and Teresa,

We received yours and Alicia’s letters yesterday. She tells us things about Tony and her work that made us very happy for her, because she deserves to do well; she is very brave and hard working. The letter she wrote is very nice and very optimistic. I wish her all the luck in the world.

Talking about you two, Alejandrina’s letter is lovely, we could imagine her at 7 in the morning drinking mate with pastries, looking at her patio, her climber, her sparrows and what she says about the crickets is wonderful (although they kept her awake). Don’t get rid of them, poor things, they are keeping you company because the main Cricket went away to Spain!

It's great to hear that Teresa is so well and starting to be happy. Perhaps soon we can invite her to come over here for a while, God willing; in the meantime she should have fun and work happily.

Soon you’ll get a tape we sent on the 2nd March. Remember, the next time you record a tape, do it together with grandma, uncle and aunt, so they can say something and grandma can sing one of her songs.

Now I must say goodbye with a big kiss for everyone without exception, and for you two a big hug and a great kiss,

Queridas Alejandrina y Teresa:

Ayer recibimos carta de ustedes y de Alicia. Ella nos cuenta cosas de Tony y de su trabajo que nos alegraron mucho pues merece que le vaya bien porque es una chica muy valiente y luchadora. La carta que nos escribe es muy linda y muy optimista. Ojalá que tenga toda la suerte del mundo.

En cuanto a ustedes, la carta de Alejandrina es muy linda. Nos la imaginábamos, a las 7 de la mañana, tomando mates y factura, mirando su patio, su enredadera, sus gorriones, y lo de los grillos es lindísimo (a pesar de que no la dejaban dormir), no los echen, pobres, que lo que pasa es que les hacen compañía, ya que el Grillo mayor se vino a España. Me alegro muchísimo de que Teresa esté tan bien y empiece a ser felíz. A ver si pronto podemos decirle que se venga para aquí una temporadita. Dios quiera. Mientras tanto, que se divierta y trabaje contenta.

Creo que prontito les llegará nuestra cinta, que les mandamos el día 2 de marzo. Ya saben: la próxima que graben háganla con la abuelita y los tíos, que digan algo cada uno y que la abuela se cante alguna cancioncita de esas que ella sabe.

Ahora sí, un beso muy grandote para todos, todos, y para ustedes dos un abrazo y un beso muy grande,
